Trump, Epstein and the so-called Crown Prince

Tuesday, Nov. 19, was a mostly good day for democracy, the rule of law and freedom of speech. The Congress belatedly listened to the voices of women and girls and voted to release the “Epstein Files.” This was a huge setback for President Trump, who spent months delaying that vote.ย  I have no illusions that Trump will ever be punished in any way for his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, but this is still good news.

The Epstein vote disgustingly coincided with an ostentatious state visit to what’s left of the White House by the brutal dictator of Saudi Arabia, its self-styled “Crown Prince” Mohammed bin Salman. Women and girls have no voices there whatsoever, and even dissenting male voices are not tolerated. The Saudi Arabian strongman personally ordered the murder of Washington Post correspondent Jamal Khashoggi in 2022, and on Nov. 19, Trump unequivocally condoned that murder while fawning over the so-called Crown Prince. This is scary stuff, but as a New Hampshire state representative, I am scared even more by the prospect of Epstein’sย  henchwoman Ghislaine Maxwell being pardoned and set free. She was living in New Hampshire when she was arrested, and she might come back.ย  She would even be eligible to run for state representative.
