Brazilian funk could be heard outside Capital City Sports & Fitness facility just off Manchester Street. Inside, some of the best futsal players from the state and beyond played for big money and bragging rights.

The tournament was organized by Samba X Player Development as a way to grow the sport and give friends, far and wide, an opportunity for high-level competition during the winter.

Collegiate and professional players made appearances as each team hunted for the $1,000 grand prize. UNH men’s soccer player Eddy Fanduyan of Manchester, Portland Hearts of Pine’s Colby Quiรฑones and Bow’s Alex Nagy, who most recently played for Loudoun United F.C. in Leesburg, Virginia, were among the stars.

Local talent, such as Concord’s Faisal Abdallah, Frank Mucyo, and Samba X’s Chris Pinkham and Spencer Nowe, all tested their skills against the opposition.

After a round robin group stage, the two best teams from each group moved on to the semifinals, culminating in a grand finale for all the marbles. Chop Legs, a team made up of mostly players from Concord and Manchester, took home the title.
