Rewriting History

During the evening of Jan. 6, I happened to read an article in the New York Times that reported on a new web page on the official White House site. It was a revisionist version of what transpired on Jan. 6, 2021. While the president has long been known for inaccurate statements, this takes inaccurate to an entirely new level. After reading it, I could only think of the phrase that the Boston lawyer John Welch used to address Sen. McCarthy, during the Army McCarthy hearings โ€œHave you no sense of decency?โ€

I think every person who votes should look up this web page and read its contents. If you are one of the millions who watched events unfold on television that day, I think you will find it unsettling.

And as usual, there appear to be no Republicans who will protest this rewriting of history. Just as, even though there is a law requiring it, there are none who will see to the proper display of the memorial placque dedicated to law enforcement who died as a result of that day.

We can no longer be called โ€œthat shining city upon a hillโ€ when the truth and honor has so little value.
