Jokes on us
I have waited a few days to pen my thoughts on the comments made by Rep. Kristin Noble chair of the House Education Policy and Administration Committee about “segregated schools” in the hopes one Republican official would condemn them. As of this date that has not happened.
Even if we believe in Rep. Noble’s explanation this was about segregating schools by political beliefs and not race, that is still a terrible stance to have for an elected representative and committee chair. She should be stripped of her committee assignment immediately. Of course, her fellow GOP representatives took to her defense on social media claiming it was a joke. Even if it was a joke I don’t find anything funny about wasting taxpayers money and further dividing the country politically. We have reached a point where the extreme right things everyone Left of them is a Communist and the extreme Left thinks everyone right of them is a fascist. Great time to segregate schools by political ideology!
The transition of the priorities of the state GOP from being fiscally conservative to fighting culture wars has been a big joke on all of us. The state GOP has been riding the waves of the “Sununu Effect.” Chris Sununu was a very popular governor and handled COVID well. Even Democrats liked him. The longer he is out of office the more taxpayers and voters will be asking, does the state GOP really have our best interest in mind or are we all just the butt of a bad joke?
