Thera Porter

Concord, NH – Thera Porter passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 in Concord Hospital after a week of hospital care following an accident sustained on January 25, 2026. Thera was surrounded by close family and friends when she passed.

Thera was born in Boston, MA on July 11, 1987. She spent her childhood with her parents in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New Jersey, learning, exploring, and nurturing close family connections. Thera’s love of literacy started early when she taught herself to read as a toddler. Following a childhood of home schooling with her parents, Thera attended Laconia high school for her senior year, which was her only year of public schooling. She graduated in 2005 and matriculated at Lakes Region Community College. She went on to complete her BA in English at UNH in 2011.

Applying her expertise in communication and literacy, Thera pursued a career in student loan servicing as a documentation specialist, technical writer, and trainer. Thera employed patience and humor as she mentored professionals entering the industry. A steadfast, hard worker, Thera also worked in the restaurant industry. She was a beloved server at the Common Man Restaurant in Concord, noted for her sense of humor and her high regard for others.

Thera was an animal lover who supported associated causes, raised guinea pigs, and found joy in animal-related decorations, toys, and trinkets. She was passionate about human rights and the well being of others, noting that she found it hard to resist sharing with a stranger in need. She had the highest regard for the reproductive health and rights of all people.

Anyone who knew Thera well most certainly had a slue of inside jokes, references and special themes that they shared with just Thera. As Thera spent her final days resting in hospital care, dozens of loved ones said their heartfelt ‘goodbyes,’ noting, “she gave the best hugs,” “she was always there for people,” “she always knew what to say,” and “her sense of humor was unmatched.”

Thera was survived by her parents, Vicki Brower and Mitchell Hogue, her spouse, Zachary Porter, other relatives, and countless dear friends. In lieu of flowers donations in Thera’s memory can be made to Planned Parenthood or Project Puffin.
