Three seats are up for grabs on the Henniker Board of Selectmen — and all of the incumbents are seeking reelection.
Jeff Morse, the current vice chair, and Neal Martin are running again for the two three-year terms, with Mike Barnard also in the race. Stephen Dennis replaced Peter Flynn shortly after his death in October and will run for a one-year term against Michael Tucker.
The Monitor sent questionnaires to all select board and school board candidates running in towns within our coverage area. Morse, Martin, Dennis and Barnard did not submit forms upon request.
What is your occupation or experience?
Tucker: Retired Engineering Manager.
Why are you running and what do you see as the most pressing issues in town?
Tucker: I am running to give back to the town where I have lived and raised my family. I have extensive managerial and budgetary experience with a unique perspective from my international travel from my role as the Applications Engineering Manager at OSRAM Sylvania. Before my travel requirements expanded significantly, I did volunteer in various capacities within Henniker and the area. I think that the budget, affordability and maintaining the small town operation of Henniker is most pressing.
What do you hope to accomplish if you are elected?
Tucker: I hope to help manage the town budget to keep Henniker affordable for it’s current residents and also provide the opportunity for new families to move here!
Deborah Greaves is running unopposed for a three-year board position in the Henniker School District. She has been on the school board since 2022.
What is your occupation or experience?
Greaves: As a Henniker parent of two, I’m invested in our community to continue serving on the HCS School Board. With 20 years in communications, I prioritize transparency and strong parent-school connections. I’m dedicated to student safety, wellbeing and supporting teachers with the resources they need to succeed.
Why are you running and what do you see as the most pressing issues in town?
Greaves: I’m running to strengthen communication and ensure our teachers and students have what they need to thrive.
What do you hope to accomplish if you are elected?
Greaves: Expand opportunities that support academic growth, mental health and enrichment for every student.
