Sheila Mary (Grady) Evans
McKinney, TX – Sheila Mary (Grady) Evans, 81, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in McKinney, Texas.
Born October 26, 1944, in New York City to James and Elizabeth (Gilfillan) Grady, Sheila was raised on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and educated in Catholic schools. She graduated from New England College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, where she met her husband, Ira Evans.
Sheila began her career teaching second grade in New Hampshire before dedicating herself to raising her family in Bow. In 1982, she and Ira co-founded The Lighting Place in Concord. She was an active member of her community, contributing her time to PTA, Women’s Club, CCD, and local fundraisers.
She retired in 2018 and moved to Lake Worth, Florida. After Ira’s passing in 2021, she relocated to Texas to be near her daughter.
Sheila will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong values, and her warm, social spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ira. She is survived by her brother James Grady (Maria); children Thomas (Meghan), David (Jamie), and Amy; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Sheila and Ira will be held at Waters Funeral Home at 2 p.m., April 10, 50 South Main Street, Concord.
