Open enrollment is silly business

Considering that the state of New Hampshire is either 49th or 50th in the United States as it pertains to the amount the state contributes toward education, open enrollment seems like a pretty silly thing to worry about. Honestly, who comes up with this stuff?

It is our property taxes that fund our local districts and schools at about 70% per student, the state has almost no skin in the game, while at the same time wanting maximum input. Who is going to pay for the student that decides or wants to attend a school in a different city or district? Which property tax should they pay? To the town that their child wants to attend school?

First, the state needs to start paying its fair share. Why? Because property taxes are killing many existing homeowners, prospective young adults and families that decide New Hampshire property taxes are as much as a mortgage? OPEN ENROLLMENT is the least of our problems concerning education here in New Hampshire. Stop distracting with silly ideas, at least until serious consideration is given to the mammoth problem of school funding in the state. Wow!
