Your vote is important!

Mid-term elections are coming. It is so important that everyone VOTE. To sustain a democracy, we have to use our voice at the ballot box.

The first thing to do is call your city clerk to verify that you are registered to vote AND to what party you are registered. If you arenโ€™t registered, ask them how you do that. You are eligible if you are at least 18 or will be 18 by Election Day. If you want to change your party affiliation before the state primary on Sept. 8, you must do so before June 3. Thatโ€™s about seven weeks away.

The state primary ballot will include candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Representatives, New Hampshire Governor, all New Hampshire state representatives and all five New Hampshire Executive Council members. This is a hugely important election.

The General Election will be Nov. 3. There are many sources out there to find out information about these candidates. Also, watch for meet-and-greet opportunities and panel forums. You will be energized and amazed at the folks running for these seats.

It is our civic duty and responsibility to show up and vote for those who will represent us. Primaries typically have lower voter turnout, which is unfortunate because it is at these elections where voters have the most choice. If you feel you arenโ€™t knowledgeable enough to vote, there is nothing wrong with finding your smartest, like-minded friends and associates and asking them to help you choose! I’ve done it and others do too. The important thing is to VOTE!
