Northwood, NH – Susan B. (Foss) Johnson, 78, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Peabody Place in Franklin, NH.
She was born in Rochester, NH on November 18, 1947 the daughter of Robert W. Foss and Janiece G. (Canney) Foss.
She graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1965 and then went to work for Christian Mutual Life Insurance Co. for about 10 years. Sue lived in Northwood most of her adult life and was a stay-at-home mom while she raised her children. When all the children were school age she became a speech and language paraeducator, first for Northwood Elementary School in 1984 and later for Strafford School System retiring in 2010.
Sue had been a member of the Advent Christian Church in Northwood and more recently the New Rye Union Congregational Church in Epsom. At the church she had been a member of the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. For many years Sue had been a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts and reading. She was involved in working with youth for much of her life both through church and school.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother, David Foss. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Samuel W. Johnson; three children, Stacy Sweet of Barrington, NH, Jason (Heather) Johnson of Northwood, NH and Brian (Kerri) Johnson of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren, Daisy, Darin, Regan, Ryleigh, Asher, Phineas, Caleb and Eli; a sister, Deborah Wead of Epsom, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the New Rye Union Congregational Church, 289 New Rye Road, Epsom, NH on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:30-11:00 A.M. with a service to follow at 11:00 at the church. There will be a light luncheon and then burial in Fairview Cemetery, Northwood, NH.
