Overuse of AI
I see many of my college peers use AI for mundane tasks like doing homework and sometimes more creative tasks like art generation or fliers instead of doing them themselves. I worry that if AI use continues this way, people will lose or lack critical thinking and creativity.
I believe people need to be creative to feel alive. Creativity is a large umbrella and covers so much. I believe each person should learn to express themself in ways that are personal to them. However with AI being used to write, draw and make music, many people switch to taking the easy way out. I understand how easy it can seem to just have AI do then work for you, but when you do, you are robbed of key experiences especially when it is something creative.
You may feel like the AI can make “better art” than you do but you miss out on the skills you can learn from doing it yourself and the feeling of saying that you were able to make that. People will also take note of your effort giving higher praise compared to an AI image. I don’t see AI as a complete enemy, however I see generative AI as a hindrance to human nature.
