Navy crews going hungry?

Are news accounts of Navy aircraft carrier crews being served reduced rations as the ship is running low on food supplies validated? These men and women (average age of 19 to 20 years old) work 12 to 18 hour shifts.

The flight deck crews work night and day, in all kinds of weather, in probably the most dangerous jobs in the U.S. Navy. They need to be well fed and not under nourished. Can these account of our warships running low on food because of poor planning be true?
