Earth’s Greatest Enemy

I saw a very disturbing documentary at the Red River Theatre in Concord. And I urge you to see it, too! This was a limited premier. Visit https://earthsgreatestenemy.com/ to possibly host your own screening.

“Earth’s Greatest Enemy” is an enlightening, horrifying anti-imperialist environmental documentary by Abby Martin that presents evidence of the military and its dominance and destruction throughout the world. This was news to me. Bad news!

The military complex and its profiting corporations are literally destroying our Earth. Its poisoning our waters, sickening and killing both humans and animal life and taking over, with military authority, communities (Hawaii, Okinawa) to set up bases, excavate, blow up and burn entire ecosystems.

The military accounts for 25% of the world’s carbon emissions.

What brought tears to my eyes was the astounding numbers of creatures killed — blue whales, dolphins, sea fish and more — and labeled as acceptable “takes” by the military. Over 149,000 annually! This, due to sonar testing, etc., is unforgivable and unnecessary.

Yes, we need a strong defense. But what I witnessed in this film constituted dominance and aggression beyond anything we would ever need to employ to keep ourselves “safe.” And beyond what our planet can sustain.

Please try to see the film. Viewing this documentary for yourself will undoubtedly be one of the most galvanizing experiences of your life.
