St. Johnsbury, VT – Sarah Anne Wiegard, 77, of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025.

Born December 17, 1947, in Annapolis, Maryland, she was the daughter of Francis (Frank) and Theresa (Rasmussen) Wiegard. Sarah grew up near Chesapeake Bay, where she developed a lifelong love of Navy Football.

In her 20s and 30s, Sarah traveled around the country, embracing new places and experiences. She always spoke fondly of her time in Carmel, California, which held a special place in her heart.

After relocating to Florida, she returned to school as an adult, completing her GED and earning an Associate of Arts degree from Seminole Community College. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Rollins College and a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida.

Sarah devoted her career to library science, working at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, Yankee Book Peddler in Contoocook, New Hampshire, the New Hampshire State Library, Concord Public Library, and later at Kutak Rock in Omaha, Nebraska. She retired in 2013 and returned to New Hampshire to be closer to her family.

She was an avid Navy Football fan, a dedicated member of the Star Wars community, where a planet, “Sarahwiee,” was named in her honor, and an active member of the American Library Association. She was passionate about community, conversation, and causes she believed in.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Katherine Wiegard of Raymond, NH; her grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia; and several nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Alyce Chipchak.
