Conspiracy or reality?
New Hampshire is facing some serious problems. Child care is expensive and hard to find, housing prices have skyrocketed, property taxes continue to rise above inflation and towns and cities have to make cuts in services. Young people cannot afford to live here: We have become a state of elderly people and it is not sustainable.
In Rep. Michael Moffetโs My Turn, he has come up with a theory as to why people are unhappy with their high property taxes. โMany folks see the school funding issue for what it is โ a Trojan horse to advance a hidden agenda that involves creating a state income tax.โ
I have another thought Mr. Moffett. Why did Republicans eliminate the interest and dividends tax and lower the rooms and meal/business taxes? How did you think New Hampshire would support the needs of our state? Here is the real Trojan horse.
Republicans expect towns and cities to make up the lost revenue in property taxes. What used to be a share expense is our problem. Is this what local control is? The New Hampshire advantage?
Most Republicans are voting for their Free Stater/Far Right ideology and show little concern for their constituents. I have great respect for the Republicans who voted to save their towns from possible financial crisis during the recent Open Enrollment vote. They will be punished by their peers.
Republicans need to make proposals to help New Hampshire. That is their job! We need to remember this in November.
