Jonathan Edwards Rasmussen

Penacook, NH – Jonathan Edwards Rasmussen passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 6, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born July 11, 1937, to Reverend Andrew William and Stella Ruby Rasmussen, Jonathan graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma before working as a machinist for Boeing. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Honor Guard at Fort Benning, Georgia, and later drove for Western Farmer.

In 1973, Jonathan moved to Hollywood where he worked with production vans equipped with generators and lighting systems for the film industry. He started his own company, Cine Power Systems, in 1982 and provided power for movie and television sets until his retirement in 2005. His work included films such as Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, Overboard, School Ties, and Poseidon, as well as the television series Roots, The A-Team, and China Beach.

Jonathan was proud of his Nordic heritage and traveled throughout Norway, Denmark, and Sweden to document his family’s history. A professional photographer and skilled scuba diver, he captured many beautiful images under the sea. In his youth, he also enjoyed playing hockey in Washington and Canada. While Jonathan did not have children of his own, his nieces and nephews were like his children to him. He was a loving, generous, and fun-loving uncle who lived a full life of adventure.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul. He is survived by his brothers Wesley, David, and Philip; his nieces and nephews David Jr., Melodie, Dewayne, Mark, Jonathan (Wesley), Sharon, Dawn, Julie, Stacy, and Jonathan (Paul); and many dear friends.
