A 27-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a utility pole on Horse Corner Road in Chichester.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was seriously injured in the collision, which occurred on Sunday evening. He was transported to the hospital in an ambulance and later died of his injuries.
“We know the cause of the collision,” said Chichester Police Chief Joshua Wright. “It was likely speed and, then, blunt force trauma impact with the pole and, later, dying of those injuries. But anything else that might help us, whether anyone saw anything or has prior knowledge of anything, we’re still developing our knowledge of what happened prior.”
Wright said that deadly accidents due to speeding aren’t very common on Horse Corner Road.
“As far as severe, with it being a fatal, I haven’t seen a lot like that. We tend to get some vehicles going off the road but not as much with high speeds,” he said.
Anyone with information regarding the collision is encouraged to contact the Chichester Police Department at 603-798-4911 or email Master Patrolman Philip Houten at phouten@chichesternh.org.
