Webster, NH – Elizabeth S. (Stinson) Oberg, 88, known by all as “Betty” or “Betsy”, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.
She was the fifth child of John and Mary (Springsteel) Stinson, born January 5, 1938 in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She is predeceased by three brothers and her beloved sister, Mary Brown. Although she had not lived in Dobbs Ferry for over 60 years, her heart never left.
She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Oberg, in 1961 and they resided in Westchester County, NY for many years before moving to New London, NH in 1976. While in NY, Betty had been employed as a secretary for Masters School for Girls and Pace University. After moving to NH she began working for Colby-Sawyer College in 1977 and retired in 2000 as payroll coordinator. They moved to Bow, NH in 2013 and Betty has lived with her daughter in Webster for the past three years.
Betty was known for her quick wit and love for their numerous pets over the years, many of which were rescues. She enjoyed her time with family, especially her grandchildren, reading, knitting and a good cup of tea (if she remembered that it was steeping). She spent many hours researching family genealogy, including trips to Ellis Island and Washington, DC. Betty and Bill were also familiar faces at the League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair in Sunapee as volunteers for many years.
Her husband of 59 years died in 2021. She is survived by two daughters, Terri (Bob) Wasowski of Webster, NH and Joyce (Jeff) Rockwell of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany Barnes (Dan Julian), Justin (Shanna) Barnes, Nicole Racine, Tyler Racine and Alex Oberg and two great grandsons, Andrew Barnes and Sawyer Faiella, as well as 3 nieces and their families.
There will be a private remembrance of life and she will be interred with her husband at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.
