A Pittsfield woman pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking charge in federal court on Tuesday.
Shannon Halloran, 35, could face between ten years and life in prison, with a potential fine of up to $10 million, on the charge of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Her sentencing will take place on August 31.
Halloran was identified as a redistributor for a drug trafficking organization that authorities began investigating at the end of 2023. The organization spanned New Hampshire and Massachusetts, distributing multiple kilograms of methamphetamine.
The FBI’s Major Offender Task Force spearheaded the investigation, with help from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Strafford County Sheriff’s Office and the Boston Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Yasir Sadat.
“This prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion,” according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice. “The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.”
