Pros and cons of artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence is poised to transform the world we live in. It has the potential to make manufacturing facilities more automated which could reduce costs. Design functions can be taken over by AI. AI can be used in accounting and financial functions and to simplify the preparation of contracts. Food service in restaurants could become highly automated.
A downside of AI is that it could be used by unscrupulous and criminal individuals to conduct illegal activities. Bad actors could provide fake information which is indistinguishable from real information. Totalitarian regimes could use AI to spy on and control their populations – and attack other countries. Most terrifying is the potential development of lethal automated AI-controlled weapon systems which can attack targets on their own without any control by human beings. AI-controlled algorithms could take over trading on stock markets and implement a financial crisis. Creativity of people could be compromised by AI generated information.
Is it possible AI could take control of nuclear ballistic missile systems and institute nuclear war in the world?
A major question is will AI be kept under control by human beings or will it take control of us? Could mankind become subservient to AI?
