A Franklin man was arrested this week after he was accused of stealing from a private residence in Canterbury where he had been employed as a professional cleaner.
Sean Vandell, 41, faces three felony charges, including theft by unauthorized taking of a firearm. The thefts occurred over a period of several months, from August of 2025 to March of 2026, according to the Canterbury Police Department.
Investigating officer Michael Dumas said the property owner approached police with proof of the thefts.
“The individuals he stole from — they were able to positively identify that he took those items from their house to his car while cleaning,” Dumas said. “We don’t know if he was cleaning other people’s houses […] there could be more.”
Officers with the Franklin Police Department arrested Vandell on a warrant on Tuesday. He was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in Franklin District Court in early July.
