Abortion: New Hampshire’s right slipping away
I am a Grade 8 student at The Beech Hill School in Hopkinton and I wanted to tell you about my concerns regarding the landscape of current reproductive rights in the country and state.
Over the past few years, I have watched the reproductive rights for me and the women in my life slip away across the nation, and the very likely growing possibility of these rights being taken away stand in my home state. Growing up in a household of strong, independent, working women, it has made me so agitated to see these figures in my life and realizing that these people and I have fewer rights to their own bodies than the common man.
Since 2023, rights of all the women in this country have been stripped since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and they have only been stripped more with 13 states like Idaho and Texas having full abortion bans, and many others having bans with few exceptions. Currently, our state is not protecting the reproductive rights of women, where several bills have been introduced into the legislature since 2023. I ask you to raise awareness about this issue to not only Concord, but the state of New Hampshire as well, so that the women of the “Live Free or Die” state can live with the freedom of their own bodies.
