Jumping through hoops

I thought it might be a good idea to apply for the elderly tax exemption as I am 82 years old. No problem, drop in at city hall, sign up and then just smile when I received my next tax bill. Whoa! Not so fast mister. If you do this, I suggest that you take a lawyer with you who is well versed in taxation.

You need an appraisal technician, a wet signature (which I guess would mean no pencils) and other attachments. Twenty of them, to be exact.

If there was ever a bigger program designed to discourage participation, I have not seen it.

Pretty obvious that lowering your taxes does not sit well with city hall.

In the time that I have been paying taxes on this property they have gone from $304 to $9,500.
