Questionable Rundlett proposed bus routes

Why did the Concord School Board not respond to the petition signed by 70 residents of Noyes, Cypress and College streets objecting to the proposed bus routes for the new Rundlett — even after that petition was “misplaced” for several weeks?

Why was the original email on behalf of the neighborhood not responded to when residents asked for another neighborhood meeting or an explanation why the current bus routes couldn’t be continued?

Why was the second email asking the same things not acknowledged after the first one was apparently ignored?

Why, when most alternatives were dismissed by the hired traffic engineer, weren’t the current routes given as an alternative? Apparently, that was automatically rejected even though dividers/barriers could be used judiciously to meet requirements. (See 2024 Manual for Planning and Construction of School Buildings.)

Why was the Concord Traffic Operations Committee (reviewing the proposed bus routes in April) not told about the significant opposition by the neighborhood residents? If “all of the traffic flow alternatives” were given to them, why wasn’t keeping the same routes included?

Why not give planners the directive to have buses and parent cars safely separated using the main driveway and see what you get? It’s probably workable and safer than what is proposed.

Why after 60 years of safe, non-controversial Rundlett bus routes won’t the School Board continue what has worked well for so long? If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
