Concord, NH – Janet Marie (Riff) Bronson died peacefully Monday, June 1st, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Lancaster, NH, on February 15th, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Arleta and John Lyman Riff, Jr. of Lancaster.
Janet grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1958 where she played basketball and was the co-captain of the women’s team her senior year. She was an exceptional trombone player and played for many years as part of the summer Wednesday night concerts on the Lancaster Gazebo, earning her a picture in a National Geographic story about small towns in NH. Upon graduation, she worked at the IGA supermarket until she moved to Concord in 1981, where she began her employment at Concord Hospital for 20 years before retiring.
Janet was a loving wife and companion to her spouse, Elena A. Robbins, who she shared 45 wonderful years with.
She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and had a talent for gardening and landscaping creating a beautiful Koi pond at the residence in Loudon. Janet was known for her quick, dry humor, which put a smile on many faces. She was honest, caring, and a good friend to many. All of us who knew Janet will miss that special twinkle in her eye.
She was a deeply loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother and proudest of her two grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her son, David A. Bronson and his wife Deb, and granddaughter, Caleigh, of Dover, NH. Her daughter, Dodie Bronson Oakes and her husband, Mike, and grandson, Jeremy, of Loudon, NH. She has a sister, Shelba Wheeler, who lives in Florida, and a brother, John Lyman Riff III and his wife, Betty, of Jefferson, NH. She also has many nieces and nephews.
At Janet’s request there will be no services.
