Despite all the advanced in snowmaking, grooming and high-tech equipment that ski areas have added in recent years, the industry is still dependent on the whims of Mother Nature. Fortunately, she was in a good mood this past winter.
Ski New Hampshire, which represents some 30 downhill and cross-country ski areas in the state, said their members registered 2.28 million skier and snowboard visits during the 2025/26 season, making it the fourth-best season in the past 20 years. It was bested only by winters that had even more snow for longer periods than the 2025-26 winter.
“Early-season snowfall and consistently favorable snowmaking temperatures in the Northeast during peak snowmaking periods allowed New Hampshire ski areas to establish a deep, resilient base of snow that supported exceptional conditions throughout the winter,” said Ski NH President Jessyca Keeler during the group’s annual conference at Bretton Woods.
A particular highlight was tubing. Ski NH members reported a combined 125,314 tubing visits, the second-best tubing season on record since Ski NH began tracking tubing visits two decades ago.
