NH electricity rate comparision
The numerous articles of late about the substantial increase in New England electricity rates are not truly accurate. The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently published its annual percentage change for the last year through March. It tells a vastly different story.
Connecticut and Rhode Island actually had decreases of about 6% and 7%. Perhaps just as confounding are the figures for our immediately surrounding states. Maine and Massachusetts had essentially no increase in cost (0.2% and 0.1%). Vermont did have a 7.7% increase. But here in New Hampshire, we were absolutely pummeled to the tune of 18%.
There will be all kinds of reasons given for the huge discrepancy. But these reasons are just excuses. We need this critical issue addressed and remedied. Particularly in light of current Iran related world events. It’s about time our legislators prioritized this crisis and categorize it as an emergency issue in need of rather quick resolution.
