Thomas H. Rooney

Hopkinton, NH – Thomas H. Rooney, 93, passed away peacefully at the Granite VNA Hospice House on June 6th.

Born and raised in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Tom graduated from Attleboro Trade School and was a longtime member of the Attleboro Rod & Gun Club. In service to his country, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on active duty for two years.

Tom built a distinguished career as a tool and die maker, known for his precision, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic working for many companies throughout his career retiring in 2001. After moving to New Hampshire in 1977, he became an active member of the Concord Coach Square Dance Club and enjoyed many years of friendship and community involvement.

Tom’s greatest joy was his family. He also had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, camping, reading history and happiest with a chainsaw or axe in hand cutting wood.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Rooney; his daughter, Cecilly Rowe, and her husband, George, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; his son, James Rooney, and his wife, Cynthia, of Concord, New Hampshire; and his son, Daniel Rooney, and his wife, Lidi, of Franklin, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Oliver, Nadia, Deanna, and Jillian, and six great-grandchildren, Landon, Jasmine, Sabrina, Jackson, Emmett, and Ryan.

Tom was the son of the late George and Marguerite Rooney of Attleboro, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Rooney, and his sister, Beverly Dufresne.

Graveside services will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, New Hampshire on July 24th at 9:00 a.m.

The family would like to extend or heartfelt gratitude to the Granite VNA Hospice team who brought support, compassion, care, respect and patience in caring for Tom. You are truly angels!
