South Grafton, MA – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roxanne Lee (Churas) Dwyer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend.
Roxanne was a fighter in every sense of the word. After first being diagnosed with cancer in her thirties, she spent nearly three decades courageously battling the disease with extraordinary strength, resilience, and determination. Through every setback, treatment, and challenge, she faced life with grace and an unwavering spirit. To those who knew and loved her, she became known simply as “Roxanne Strong”-a testament to the incredible courage she demonstrated throughout her journey.
A nurse by profession and by nature, Roxanne dedicated her life to caring for others. Nursing was not just her career; it was who she was. Whether caring for family, friends, patients, or complete strangers, she never stopped putting others before herself. Even during her own struggles, her first concern was often for someone else.
Roxanne’s kindness, compassion, and selflessness touched countless lives. In her final days, the number of family members, friends, former coworkers, and loved ones who came to visit, offer prayers, and say their goodbyes was a powerful reflection of the impact she had on so many people. Those who did not know her wished they had, and those fortunate enough to know her were grateful to call her a friend.
Her faith in God was the foundation of her life and carried her through many difficult moments. She loved attending church and found comfort and strength in her faith, which guided her through life’s greatest challenges.
Roxanne leaves behind her loving husband, John; her devoted daughters, Michelle and Hillary; her cherished grandchildren, Hadley and Crosby; her mother, Patricia; her sister, Kathy; her brother, Chris and her sister Elizabeth ; her nieces, Jessie and Sydney; her nephews, Tyler and Ryan; her beloved dog, Luna; as well as many extended family members and countless friends who became family along the way.
While her family mourns the loss of an extraordinary woman, they take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, faith, strength, perseverance, and service to others will live on in all who knew her. Roxanne was truly an angel on this earth. She showed everyone around her what courage looks like, and her impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7
