Taking on the establishment. Vote Karishma!

I am deeply concerned about how both the Democratic and Republican parties treat the primary election process.

In New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race, the Democratic Party establishment is putting its thumb on the scale in favor of Rep. Chris Pappas. Pappas is a four-term congressman who cannot defend the money he has taken from foreign lobbies and how he has voted. Pappas has accepted nearly $3 million from pro-Israel lobbies and has voted for billions of our hard-earned tax dollars for weapons to Israel to bomb and kill thousands of people in Palestine and Lebanon.

Despite Pappas’s terrible record, Democratic leaders like Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator Jeanne Shaheen are trying to ensure Pappas wins the September primary. In my view, party leaders and major donors support Pappas because he will continue to serve them and not the people of New Hampshire.

Karishma Manzur has spent years working in the nonprofit sector on issues affecting working families, including livable wages, affordable housing, universal childcare and health care as well as taxing the rich.

Now that I understand how corrupt the Democratic and Republican establishments are, I will never support any candidate who accepts even $1 from corporate PACs or AIPAC.

Elected officials should work for the people, not wealthy donors. That is why I will vote for Manzur in the Sept. 8 Democratic primary election.
