Thank you

A huge thank you to Andy Dellas, owner of Bouwells Bowling Center in Concord, for allowing us to take over his facility for the second year in a row for our Angelman Syndrome Foundation fundraiser! The fundraiser has been a great success thanks to Andy and his staff, and we couldn’t do it without him.

Families with AS individuals can bowl at Boutwells with a special adaptive devices so children and adults are able to bowl. Young and old come together for a couple hours at this fundraiser and have so much fun — no one sees the disabilities, everyone mingles and helps one another. I went to update Andy: not many people had registered, event was a few weeks away and I was very discouraged, thought I should maybe cancel. Andy stood there, listened, smiled, told me not to worry, we’d surely have walk-ins. He wasn’t wrong — within two weeks, 104 bowlers registered! It was chaotic registering that many people, but we did it!

There were also many non-bowlers who came to support the ASF community, enjoy the fun, the food and try their luck winning a raffle item donated by local businesses! Andy was not rattled at all by the number of people there, he just did what he does on a “normal” day! We’re hoping this becomes an annual event, happening in May! Not only did Andy donate his facility and allow us to do whatever, but he also gave a generous donation to ASF! Thank you Andy for helping make this fundraiser so successful, we couldn’t have done this without you!
