Senator Hassan’s strategic foreign policy
As a constituent in Webster and Warner, Senator Hassan’s proven dedication to international aid has helped fulfill my own moral obligation to act, informed by my perception of the U.S. as a powerful, privileged, international actor. Aid as a pillar of foreign policy also serves U.S. strategic interests. I take the values of moral and logical order seriously as an ambassador of The Borgen Project, an international nonprofit dedicated to global relief for war, famine and poverty. Fighting global poverty enhances our national security in the form of stability, a rare commodity in today’s world. It also ushers in economic prosperity by strengthening ties between allies and helping new trade partners develop their economies, boosting international entry.
As a reminder, H.R.4346 or the ‘CHIPS and Science Act’ became Public Law on Aug. 9, 2022. Before being signed into law by President Biden, it passed the Senate by a bipartisan 64-33 vote. The bill deftly maneuvered affairs in the U.S.-China competition, positioning us to secure supply chains and strengthen our capacities in important semiconductor, STEM innovation, and manufacturing fields. While promoting domestic tech production, the law encouraged the procurement and optimization of supply chains to outcompete our adversaries, garnering necessary partners and opening paths, to build networks, to benefit our manufacturing.
Senator Hassan was a strong promoter of the bill and aided its passage – aiding us in the process.
