Proud of America?
I recently heard an NPR piece about whether Americans are proud of our country on the 250th anniversary of its founding. I used to be proud of America, though I knew it fell short of its ideals. Now I would mostly say I am grief-stricken about the positive attributes it is losing. A good deal of my grief is focused on our concentration camps and the people who are forced into them without due process. Of this I am deeply ashamed.
