Change starts with knowledge
Many of us in New Hampshire are struggling under the weight of rising housing costs, rent, property taxes, utilities and the ever-increasing cost of living.
With the midterm elections approaching, every voter has a responsibility to know how their elected representatives vote and which bills they choose to sponsor. Their decisions directly affect our lives, yet the legislative process often makes it difficult to see where their true priorities lie.
Instead of working across party lines to address the financial hardships facing New Hampshire families, the majority party spent valuable legislative time advancing bills that did little to lower costs or improve the lives of struggling residents.
During that same session, the NH ACLU tracked 16 bills targeting LGBTQ+ individuals. For many Granite Staters, that raised an important question: Why was so much legislative time devoted to bills attacking LGBTQ+ people instead of addressing the housing shortage, rising taxes and the escalating cost of living?
The answer is simple: They keep us struggling to fuel our anger for the hate they want to spread
Before you vote, look beyond campaign mailers and political slogans. Examine your representatives’ voting records, the bills they sponsored and whether their actions reflect the priorities of your families. Government should be solving problems, not targeting already marginalized communities.
An informed vote is the best way to create the change you want to see.
