No autumn leaf/yard waste collection
It has been brought to my attention that the city’s budget writers have chosen to remove the autumn leaf and yard waste collection services from the newest budget. This new plan makes no sense at all, the city already owns the equipment needed to carry out the task. The city already employs the crews needed to operate such equipment.
So now the city residents will be left with this task? I envision tree-lined streets turning into huge mulch piles as the falling leaves fall somewhat indeterminately; not caring whether they land on a public street (whoops) or private land.
Not everyone can afford to hire a private yard crew, and not everyone has the physical strength to do the task. The budget writers were short sighted in how best to allocate the services provided by our taxes. Removing this annual service was a mistake. Check back in when the storm drains are clogged with fallen leaves.
