Really Dan?
In the 1950s, paranoid U.S. Sen. Joseph McCarthy frightened the country over his assertion that the very fabric of American life, as he saw it, was in danger. The danger, communists! Reading Dan Innis’s opinion in the July 23 Monitor, I was brought back to those times. Only now, the very ruination of our country and state has a new evil: Democrats! According to Innis, just about every evil that is plaguing New Hampshire, and probably the country, is because Democrats exist. Property taxes are high, blame the Democrats. Medical drugs/insurance costs are outrageous, it’s those dang Democrats. Gas prices are out of control, it’s the Democrats. You name it, he has the answer, it’s the Democrats!
How nice of him to not mention that it’s him and his ilk that’s robbing the public education trust, mixing church and state contrary to the constitution, ensuring that religious and private schools can suck public monies away from public education under the Orwellian double speak of advocating “choice” (does that include a woman’s right to choose?). That is why our property taxes are so high. And of course, it’s his party that says it’s all right to kill someone for simply mentioning an income tax, something his millionaire buddies would rather die, or kill, for than ever even discuss.
We are in strange times folks. As warned in the 50s, please check under your beds before going to sleep. You might find a Democrat, or even worse, a millionaire Republican!
