Progressive candidates can win
Aug. 5 was an important day in America. A progressive candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, won the Democratic Senate primary race in Michigan. This despite outrageous amounts of money spent by AIPAC, corporate donors and the moderate, centrist Democratic establishment to oppose him.
In New Hampshire, we have a progressive Senatorial candidate, Karishma Manzur, who calls for an end to the senseless war in Iran, recognizes the genocide occurring in Gaza, recognizes that Israel is an apartheid state with daily settler violence in the West Bank and that America’s relationship with that country needs to change. A candidate who calls for raising the minimum wage, establishing Medicare for All and recognizes the havoc fossil fuels cause re our environment and economy. She does not take campaign funds from AIPAC or corporations.
Rep. Chris Pappas is also running for the Senate. In his campaign ads, he says he will fight corruption in Washington. He takes campaign funds from AIPAC, corporations and wealthy out of state donors. This is not a candidate who will fight corruption in politics. He will be beholden to his donors. He has no significant progressive policies and willfully sends millions of dollars to support Israel.
