Moultonborough , NH – Germania “Gerry” Whiting, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, on August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Gerry was born in Germany on July 17, 1936. In the difficult years following World War II, she made the courageous journey to America at just 13 years old, leaving her immediate family behind and traveling alone through Ellis Island to join her Aunt’s family in Newbury, New Hampshire. Her remarkable journey reflected the strength, determination, and resilience that would define her throughout her life.
After settling in New Hampshire, Gerry attended Warner high school, making the daily trip by locomotive. She later enrolled at the Concord School of Nursing, where she met the love of her life, Sidney “Sid” Whiting. Their meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on love, and family.
Gerry and Sid made their home in Lexington, where they were residents for more than 40 years. She was a devoted homemaker, an avid gardener, and an active member of the community. Her passion for gardening led her to serve as President of the Lexington Garden Club, where she inspired others through her knowledge, enthusiasm.
Above all else, Gerry cherished her family. She was known for her strength, kindness, unwavering love, and the warm, welcoming home she created for those she loved.
Gerry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sidney “Sid” Whiting, who passed away on May 1, 2026.
She is survived by her sons, Karl Whiting and David Whiting daughter-in-law, Kier Whiting; and her cherished grandchildren, Devony, Spencer, Tamlyn, Kyrielle, and Roger. She also leaves behind extended
family and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her grace and gentle spirit.
Gerry’s extraordinary life-from her courageous journey to America as a young girl to the loving familyand community she helped build-will remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
A family service will be held on August 21, 2026 Blossom Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lexington Garden Club
