Shirley Streeter

Canterbury, NH – Shirley Streeter of Canterbury, NH passed away July 19th after an extended illness. She lived in Canterbury her entire life in the home originally owned by her great grandfather. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Harold and Avis Streeter, and by her beloved niece Aimee (Curtis) Towle.

Shirley worked at NH Business and Industry Assoc. most of her adult life as an administrative assistant, meeting many people and engaging in a wide range of activities which she enjoyed. Highlights included planning a luncheon for 500+ people for former President George H. Bush, the opportunity to go on former Vice President Dan Quayle’s plane, and a behind the scenes tour of the White House.

Shirley’s main enjoyment was spending time with the younger members of the family, especially teaching them how to bake. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, training her dogs and traveling. She had the opportunity to go on several cruises, including to Alaska and through the Panama Canal. She also greatly enjoyed vacationing each year in Myrtle Beach with Aimee, Bryan and their children.

She is survived by her two sisters Christie Simbari and Roberta Souther of Canterbury, Roberta’s husband Geoff, nieces Brenda Souther and Laura O’Brien of Canterbury. Nephew Gregory Souther lives in Cape Coral Florida. Laura’s children, Molly, Collin and Kailey O’Brien of Canterbury. Also residing in Canterbury are niece Elizabeth Sherburne, husband Jim and great nephews Nick, Eric and Andrew Sherburne. Aimee’s three children Ethan, Avery and Katherine and their father Bryan Towle continue to live in Dover. Shirley took great enjoyment in spending holidays, birthdays and everyday life with her extended family.

Calling hours will be at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, August 21st, from 2–4 PM immediately followed by a Celebration of Life. Burial will be private.
