He was an excellent teamster learning the art of oxen pulling and the care of animals. He was an honorary member of the Association of New England Ox Teamster and helped many 4H Oxbows.

His very first job was with his younger brother, Henry, as a janitor for the one-room school at four dollars a week. He attended Simonds Free High School, worked in the lumber business for his father and for over 30 years worked for the State of NH Highway Department eventually being promoted to foreman, helping to maintain the roads and paths of the state he called home. He worked his way up to Patrolman at the Warner maintenance shed 501.

Beyond his work, Allie was a man of his community and the land he loved. He was honored with the Community Service Award given by the Warner Men’s Club and loved farming, haying, restoring two Farmall tractors, gardening and training teams of oxen, receiving many awards and won many competitions as a superior trainer of ox teams. He had an active and familiar presence at the annual Fall Folliage Festival, was a promoter and lifelong founding member of the Kearsarge Trail Snails Snowmobile Club, was a member and former president of FFF, a member of the Warner Men’s Club, the Warner Chandler Reservation Committee, the Warner Fish and Game Club, 4H and the Hopkinton Fair as well as many other organizations.
