The promise Carleigh holds for youth
As a high school senior preparing for college and the years that follow, I pay close attention to which leaders understand the pressures facing young people. Carleigh Beriont’s focus on affordability and strong public services speaks directly to the challenges my generation is already experiencing.
Her commitment to lowering costs for families — including support for those trying to pay for college — and her work to raise the minimum wage matter enormously to students like me who balance school with part-time jobs. Just as important, her opposition to campus carry shows she understands that a safe learning environment is essential for students to thrive.
Looking beyond college, I’m encouraged by her focus on affordable housing, which would make it possible for young adults to actually afford an apartment or a first home after graduation. Her approach to healthcare — including Medicare for All and her efforts to protect my rights as a young woman — reassures me that she will fight to keep government out of our personal decisions and safeguard our bodily autonomy.
And as someone deeply interested in sustainability, I’m inspired by her commitment to holding polluters accountable and protecting the planet for the next generation. Knowing that she takes environmental responsibility seriously gives me hope for the future my peers and I are about to inherit.
I encourage my peers who are voting for the first time to choose Carleigh Beriont for Congress. Adults too!
