Carleigh Beriont doesn’t wait to act

As a 23-year-old voter, I have grown up in a political culture where talking points and slogans have been treated as substitutes for action. It is simultaneously easier for candidates to reach us, yet harder to see how they are actually making our lives better.

This is suffocating. Instead of using their soapbox to build power and create change, candidates treat issues as campaign props rather than problems they can actually influence. We don’t need more platitudes and promises shoved down our throats, we need someone to give this country the Heimlich.

Throughout this campaign, Carleigh Beriont has been the candidate who acts.

As Chair of the Hampton Select Board, Carleigh was instrumental in influencing the Board to unanimously recommend a warrant article rejecting any deals with ICE. This article originally failed by a vote of 3-2, but Carleigh successfully swayed her colleagues to recommend the article. She did not mope in dissent, she built a majority.

Carleigh knows that you can’t improve people’s lives while accepting money from the billionaires and companies that are hurting them. It is no surprise that the Integrity Index, which grades every candidate on their campaign finances, gave Carleigh an A rating. For comparison, Maura Sullivan and Stefany Shaheen earned C- and D+ ratings, respectively.

On Sept. 8 I will be voting for action, integrity and a breath of fresh air. Please join me in voting for Careigh Beriont.
