Charitable Gaming proceeds boost nonprofits
As the CEO of Girls Inc. NH, a nonprofit serving over 750 girls with summer and afterschool programs around the state, I have seen firsthand what charitable gaming can do for organizations like ours.
Girls Inc. has long partnered with charitable casinos in the state for an infusion of unrestricted funds that complement our fundraising efforts. Nonprofits like ours see it as a godsend. The money can bring budget stability in uncertain times, or it can enable an organization to grow and expand programs, hire more people, buy more equipment and supplies and serve more community members in the best way possible.
Most recently, we have proudly partnered with The Nash Casino in Nashua. This year and last, the funds we received enabled us to replace worn-out buses — buses dozens of girls rely on for transportation to our centers and for our amazing field trips. I cannot overstate how much angst this has spared us and how grateful we are.
In my experience, The Nash is one of the most professionally run operations of its kind in the state. Their staff were helpful in answering questions about the application and communicated clearly at every step in the process.
Casinos can sometimes get a bad rap, but New Hampshire’s nonprofit community would be weaker without them. In truth, The Nash has strengthened Girls Inc. NH and hundreds of other nonprofits across the Granite State.
