SAY NO TO ICE!
Thanks to Wendy Thomas and David Preece for their powerful article in Saturday’s Monitor. They urge us to pay close attention to the actions of ICE agents and our local law enforcement groups who are aiding them.
Before 2016, I saw that NH communities were seeking ways to become more welcoming, refugees were safely resettled and supported, immigrants were honored for their contributions to our communities and economy and immigrant allies were openly collaborating. Today, immigration policies of the Trump administration have become increasingly clandestine, irrational and brutal.
My immigrant friends are no longer able to work, worried about their stalled immigration status, and too frightened to leave their homes. Immigrant support groups now must be constantly watchful and meet over encrypted platforms. As Thomas and Preece say, ICE fear is right here in NH. Is this really what we want for our Granite State? It’s time to say NO to ICE and NO to the Trump administration’s inhumane immigration policies!
