Result of spiritual starvation
These days we see case after case of people with mental issues being treated differently. In a current court case it is being used to excuse a triple homicide of a woman’s own children. Why do we have the kind of mental issues in such high numbers now? But not back 65 years ago?
In 1962, another mother named Madalyn Murray O’Hair (an atheist) began a court fight because the school she wanted to enroll her son in recited the Lords Prayer. The landmark Supreme Court case that ended school-led prayer in public schools is Engel v. Vitale.
Since then, we have seen the dramatic increase in all kinds of mental issues up to and including believing boys can become girls and visa versa. There is also a decline in church attendance since 1950s; Gallup data from the 1950s showed weekly attendance rates around 49%, with church membership hovering near 70% to 76%. The current rate is 30%.
I propose this theory: The increase of mental instability and moral decay corresponds directly to decrease of people believing in God. Resulting in what I would call “spiritual starvation.” Removing God, and not following the teachings of Jesus, has given us what we see every day now. People’s spirit, the thing that makes each us uniquely who we are, requires interaction with our creator. God. Without it, what we see is the result, and it’s not going to get better until we return to God-fearing people.
