Why I’m supporting Carleigh Beriont
Last week, I suspended my campaign for NH-01 and endorsed Hampton Select Board Chair Carleigh Beriont. This was not an easy decision. I am proud of the campaign we ran; we operated on a shoestring budget and did everything possible to cut costs, including assembling yard signs by hand and collecting petitions to get on the ballot rather than paying a fee. We put forward lived experience, fresh ideas and a belief in a more just and inclusive future. That work mattered, and it will continue.
I chose to endorse Carleigh Beriont because her positions on many of the most important issues closely align with my own. While we do not agree on everything, we agree on the fundamentals: Medicare for All, affordable housing, a living wage, reproductive rights, social justice and fully funding our public schools. Carleigh has run a positive, principled campaign, avoiding personal attacks and focusing instead on solutions. She brings intelligence, kindness and a genuine ability to connect with people across communities.
For now, I am stepping into a supporting role for the candidate who best reflects my values and the values you have stood with me to champion. I encourage you to support Carleigh Beriont on Sept. 8, and I hope you will stay connected as I continue working toward the future we all believe in.
