The extremely powerful El Nino building in the southern Pacific will probably make this a crummy winter in New England, reports the Keene Sentinel: “Federal forecasters predict the event to intensify heading into the winter months, which scientists said could lead to a warmer winter with less snow and more rain.”
Yuck.
This is just what has been predicted as the world’s oceans warm up. El Nino, the semi-regular warming of surface temperatures off the coast of Peru, has always affected our winters; making it hotter just means it will affect them more.
At least last winter was a good one for snow, ice and cold!
