Where has John Sununu been?
Republican primary voters should compare where Scott Brown and John Sununu have been during the past several years.
Scott Brown has been present in New Hampshire. He hosted his “No BS Backyard BBQ” events in Rye, giving voters direct access to presidential candidates including Nikki Haley, Tim Scott and Chris Christie. He attended Republican gatherings, spoke at luncheons and performed at community events with his band. Long before announcing another Senate campaign, Brown was meeting people, answering questions and remaining part of public life in our state.
John Sununu’s record looks very different. From 2021 through most of 2025, his documented public appearances were scarce. When he did emerge, it was frequently on policy panels or beside Democrats. He discussed the 2022 elections with Democratic former Senator Chris Dodd. He later became New Hampshire co-chair of the Democracy Defense Project with Democratic former Congressman Richard Swett, appearing with Swett in interviews and public programs. Sununu endorsed Haley in 2024, but that is not the same as spending years listening to New Hampshire voters. He largely returned to public view only when another Senate seat became available.
Scott Brown did not wait for an election to remember New Hampshire. He consistently showed up, opened his home to voters and participated in our communities. Public service begins with being present. On that test, Scott Brown has already demonstrated which candidate is willing to show up.
