Bow protests
A court has said that the rights of Bow parents may have been denied because they were not allowed to wear pink armbands at a soccer game. During the game, they were silently protesting the presence of a transgender student. Mr. Fellers, one of the parents, said that they were only there to cheer for their daughters and stand up for their principles.
It is a shame that they did not cheer for their daughters at the game and then protest at a school board meeting, a PTO meeting, a town or school district meeting. Of course, that would not have generated as much publicity as protesting at the game. It would, however, have removed the element of bullying from the situation. And what else can you call it when one student is the target?
I do not doubt that it may be determined that the parents have the right to protest. However, there is a difference between something being a right and it being the right thing to do.
