Concord’s Ward 5 is one of eight voting districts in the state that will have their voting machine tallies double-checked after Tuesday’s primary election.
Audits of eight districts, randomly chosen, are required by a 2024 law which sought to dispel conspiracy theories about voting machines altering tallies.
The audits, with manual counting of ballots, will be done at the New Hampshire State Archives in Concord. It will be open to the public, with a date and time to be announced.
Four districts were chosen for each of the two types of ballot machines allowed by law in New Hampshire.
Concord uses the ImageCast device. Towns using that device which will be audited along with the city’s Ward 5 are Kensington, Merrimack and Rindge.
The other device allowed in New Hampshire, made by VotingWorks, will be audited from Effingham, Keene Ward 4, Rochester Ward 5 and Sandown.
